Plattsburgh — An inmate is charged with murder after striking another inmate with a dumbbell.
The Clinton Correctional facility inmate was arraigned from the killing that happened this past May.
Teofilo Diaz, 58, was indicted on charges of first-degree murder, second-degree murder and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
He allegedly killed fellow prisoner Robert Poulsen, 37, by smashing him in the head with a dumbbell, according to a press release from the Clinton County District Attorney's Office.
The alleged assault, which occurred may 17, was remained sealed by the DA's office because it was presented directly to a grand jury.
Diaz is due back in Clinton County Court Feb. 16.
