The Section VII wrestling championships will be held at Peru High School Saturday, Feb. 11, beginning with the team introductions at 9:30 a.m. and ending with the championship round at 2 p.m. Admission is $5 per person for the entire event or for finals only.

Defending sectional team champion Peru will host the tournament to crown individual and team champions Saturday, Feb. 11, with wrestling starting at 10 a.m. The Indians have nine of the 15 top seeds in the event (Northern Adirondack has three, Saranac two and Beekmantown one).

The tournament also features four undefeated wrestlers, including Jacob Goddeau, who enters the tournament with a perfect 34-0 record, was a state champion in 2009 and finished fourth in 2010. He is also looking for his fourth sectional title, this year wrestling at 132-lbs.

Goddeau is joined in the bracket by Northern Adirondack’s Kaleb Sample (28-11), Beekmantown’s Tyler Myers (17-21) and Saranac’s Rafael Rivera (6-9).

At 99, Peru’s Ethan Feazelle is the top seed with a 20-8 record, and will be joined by Northern Adirondack’s Austin Trombley (31-4), Beekmantown’s Anthony Cartee (19-19) and Saranac’s Shawn LaGraves (12-16).

Two-time sectional champion Kyler Agoney (30-3) will be the top seed at 106, which will include Northern Adirondack's Rusty Pombrio (24-14), AuSable Valley’s Dylan Baker (15-11) and Beekmantown’s Michael Cartee (17-15).

Max Marte of Peru will be the top seed at 113, and with a record of 23-10, will look to keep the Indians stronghold on a weight that was previously filled by four-time state champion Arik Robinson. Also at 113 will be Beekmantown’s Konner German (19-18), Northern Adirondack’s Brendon Edwards (24-15) and Saranac’s Richard Armstrong (6-9).

At 120, Codie Gillette of Saranac compiled a regular season record of 25-4 to earn the top seed in a division where four of the five wrestlers have 20 wins on the season. He will be joined by Northern Adirondack’s Scott Kellett (22-8), Peru’s Tanner Phillips (20-9), Beekmantown’s Ethan Bacon (21-17) and AuSable Valley’s Dan Papa (4-22).
