continued — Not only did the fire department want to show their appreciation for Russell’s brave actions, Winters said she hopes by recognizing how attentively he handled the emergency situation it will encourage other children and parents to practice an emergency plan.
“As emergency personnel we need to know as many details as possible, and when we respond to a call it helps when homes are easy to access with equipment,” Winters said.
Anyone with questions or concerns about how to create an emergency plan with their children or who have questions about how accessible their home is in case of an emergency can contact EMS personnel for more information, Winters said.
