— Ticonderoga will “Ring in the New Year” with a benefit event.

Bobby and Tommy Dedrick will welcome people Saturday, Jan. 5, 7 to 9 p.m. at The Pub on Montcalm Street in Ticonderoga. Dubbed “Ring in the New Year,” the event will benefit the community’s annual Best Fourth in the North celebration.

“Join in the festivities and help Tommy and Bobby raise money from the tips they receive,” said Debbie Barber, Best Fourth chairwoman. “All proceeds will benefit the Best Fourth In The North celebration.”

The 2013 Best Fourth In The North celebration will take place July 1-4. Fund raising event in support of the celebration include the annual Ticonderoga High School Alumni Basketball Tournament and Italian dinner, an Ipad raffle, a coin drop, a softball tournament, Buckets Bog and more.

A schedule for the 2013 celebration is currently being organized by the committee.

“The Best Fourth in the North celebration does attract many visitors to the Ticonderoga area every year which supports local businesses and the local economy,” said Matthew Courtright, Ticonderoga Area Chamber of Commerce executive director.

The success of the July 4th activities depends on donations, Barber said.

“We encourage you to participate in as many fundraisers for the Fourth of July celebration as possible,” she said. “Without the support of our area businesses and community the celebration we all enjoy and has become a Ticonderoga tradition would not be possible. The celebration costs $25-$30,000 each year with most of that being fund raised by the committee.”

The Best Fourth in the North committee is responsible for planning and funding Ticonderoga’s annual July 4th celebration. For more information visit www.best4thinthenorth.com or www.timainstreet.org.
