MALTA — Engines were roaring in Malta on Friday night as the Albany-Saratoga Speedway came to life. Thousands of people came out to see local dirt cars battle it out for cash and prizes. We took an in-depth look at a night at the races.

Getting dirty at Albany Saratoga Speedway
A Capital Region gem, The Albany-Saratoga Speedway in Malta, was roaring on Friday night. The speedway features auto-racing teams from across NY and New England. If you want to see auto racing in its purest form, short track dirt racing will really satisfy. The track runs every Friday night, weather permitting and is five minutes off Northway exit 12 or 13 on Rt. 9. Photos by John and Joseph McIntyre
The Speedway changed back to it roots as a dirt track in 2012 after it raced on asphalt last year. The result was an incredible increase in the numbers of race teams and fans.
The track is now leased and managed by its sister track, Lebanon Valley Speedway.
