Response to storm outstanding

To the Adirondack Journal:

“Hats off” to the Town and Village of Lake George for their handling of resources — including personnel, material and money —during Hurricane Irene.

It was very obvious that their officials, department heads and crews had thought out, in advance, many of the worst-case scenarios and had put people and plans into action that minimized what could have been even worse damage and loss of business and personal property.

No one can control what Mother Nature dishes out to us, but being able to predict, respond and recoup in a timely manner is key.

We would like to pay an extra compliment for the outstanding work by Town Highway Department Superintendent Dan Davis and Village Public Works Superintendent Dave Harrington and their respective crews. The number of hours they put in, away from their own families and ability to protect their own homes, was commendable.

We sincerely appreciate all that was done and continues to be done to secure the people and property of Lake George. The business community was well served.

Job well done by all!

With sincere thanks,

John Carr, Board of Directors
