Crown Point A Crown Point man was sentenced to 11 to 19 years in state prison Sept. 2 for sexually abusing a child and possessing child pornography, officials said.
Robert D. Reed Jr., 31, pleaded guilty to felony counts of sexual abuse and possessing a sexual performance by a child. The charges related to abuse of a 9-year-old girl and child pornography that Reed was found to have during the police investigation. He was arrested in April.
Reed will have to serve at least 11 years before becoming eligible for parole.
A Ticonderoga teen was arrested Sept. 6 for allegedly smashing out several windows during a domestic dispute.
The Ticonderoga police department responded around 5:30 p.m. to a residence on Route 9N where Justice L. Taylor, 16, allegedly broke four windows in the home during an argument with his mother. Taylor also allegedly smashed a telephone when she tried to call police.
He was charged with third-degree criminal mischief, a felony, and fourth-degree criminal mischief, a misdemeanor. Police also cited him for second degree harassment.
Taylor was released on an appearance ticket.
A Moriah man was charged with felony driving while intoxicated Sept. 11.
James C. Merrill was arrested at 4:36 p.m. after he called 911 to report that his 1998 Chevy Cavalier was broken down on the side of Breed Hill Road in Crown Point. State police later found Merrill and his vehicle on the side of Fairy Lake Road in Moriah. Police said he was intoxicated.
Merrill was charged with DWI as a felony for having a previous conviction within 10 years and also with aggravated DWI due to his blood alcohol content, police said.
He was released on a ticket to appear in Moriah Town Court.
