Vaccinations available for emergency personnel

Tetanus vaccine to be given in Moriah

— Officials from the Essex County Emergency Operations Center recommend vaccines for those responding to the Irene disaster. Disaster recovery survivors and responders can best be protected by following standard immunization recommendations. The Tetanus vaccine is recommended for people without a known vaccination history for Tetanus.

Essex County Public Health will be offering free Tetanus vaccine in the form of Tetanus, Diptheria & Pertussis (Tdap) from 10 AM—12 Noon on these dates and locations:

Friday, September 9, 2011 at the Disaster Recovery Center in Moriah (630 Tarbell Hill Road, Moriah Fire House, Moriah); and

Monday, September 12, 2011 at the Keene Town Hall.

For any human service needs such as dry ice, water, housing, etc. please call the Emergency Operations Center at: (518) 873-3932. Essex County Mental Health and State Office of Mental Health will be available at the Jay Disaster Recovery Center (Jay Town Hall, School Street, Ausable Forks) 7 days a week from 8 AM to 8PM until further notice.

People concerned about emotional, behavioral or psychological distress as a result of the flooding may contact Essex County Mental Health Services at (518) 873-3670, Monday through Friday from 8AM to 5PM. On evenings, weekends and holidays, residents may contact the Crisis Hotline at 1-888-854-3773.
