Sports wrap: Girls soccer teams battle for playoff positioning

The Peru Indians scored a straight games win over the Saranac Chiefs to stay in second place in the league with a record of 10-2.

Abby Higgins had 12 kills and 13 digs for the Indians, while Sam Banker had 11 assists, Paige Moore seven kills and eight digs, and the duo of Breanna Martineau and Callie Garcia each had 10 digs.

Jasmine Barnard had seven assists and 10 digs for the Chiefs (8-5) while Emily Buzzell and Ali Harpp each had five kills, Samantha Aierle seven assists and 10 digs, and Karlee Craig netted 11 digs.

The AuSable Valley Patriots rallied from a loss in the opening game of their match to score a 3-1 win over the Northeastern Clinton Cougars Oct. 19, with game scores of 20-25, 25-15, 25-19, 25-16.

Jacquie Hoey had seven aces and 18 digs for the Patriots (4-8), while Belle O'Toole netted 19 digs and 20 assists, Noelle Miller had 14 kills and eight digs, Cassidy Tallman had nine kills and Miranda Sheffer added eight digs.

Stephanie LaValley had 11 assists and 10 digs for the Cougars (2-9), with Kelly Rogers adding 16 digs, Vada Loya hitting 14 digs, Sarena Foster netting six blocks and Ellen Reid recording eight digs.

Northern Adirondack also scored a straight games win, beating the Saranac Lake Red Storm by scores of 25-20, 25-13, 25-12.

Hannah Charland had eight aces for the Bobcats (8-5), while Ariel Fillion had 11 assists and Tessa King connected for six kills.

Nikkie Trudeau had five digs for the Red Storm (1-11).

The Plattsburgh Hornets scored a 3-0 win against the Lake Placid Blue Bombers with games of 25-13, 25-20, 25-21.

Kianna Dragoon paced the Hornets (8-4) with 19 assists, while Kayla Boise had eight digs.

Francesca Pickett had five aces for the Blue Bombers (2-11), while Danielle Balestrini added five kills and five assists, with Olivia Dempsey tallying 19 assists.
