— The Willsboro boys varsity soccer team captured the first Northern Soccer League Division II title Oct. 18 with a 6-0 win against the Westport Eagles.

The Warriors (11-2-2, 9-0-2) made quick work of establishing a lead, as Clay Sherman scored twice in the first 37 seconds of the game — the first 14 seconds into the game, the second off an assist from Nick Ball — to give Willsboro a 2-0 lead. Sherman later scored in the 60th minute of play.

Nick Arnold scored a pair of goals in the sixth (Seth Swires assist) and 17th minute (Jeff Bigelow), while Swires closed out the scoring in the 79th minute (Ball).

Cody Sayward made three saves in the shutout for the Warriors, while Ryan Davis made nine saves and Ethan Markwica made 10 for the Eagles (0-11-0).

The Chazy Eagles made their claim on second place in Division II with a 9-0 win against Lake Placid.

The Eagles (11-3-0, 8-2-0) pulled into a tie with the Elizabethtown-Lewis Lions (9-3-2, 7-2-2) with 16 points each, but swept the season series with the Lions to hold an edge in the tiebreaker.

Alex Sweet scored three goals in the Chazy victory in the 8th (Nathan Reynolds), 41st and 53rd (Josh Barriere) minutes.

Brandon Laurin netted goals in the 44th (Josh Barriere) and 45th (Michael Ryba) minutes, while assisting on the opening goal of the game scored by Nelson Pelton.

Hunter Dominy scored in the 20th (Cole Chasky) and 57th (Josh Barriere) minutes, while Josh Barriere scored in the 76th minute.

J.P. Morrison made 15 saves for the Blue Bombers (4-7-0, 4-7-0), who finish the regular season at Willsboro.

Also in Division II, David Miller scored on a direct kick in the 13th minute of overtime to give the Northern Adirondack Bobcats a 2-1 win over the Seton Catholic Knights.
