Elizabethtown For the third year, employees of Essex County will come together to help out the United Way of the Adirondack Region.
“This is the third year that we have done this as a county group of employees,” Gerald Morrow, Chesterfield town supervisor and chairman of the 2012 United Way fundraising campaign, said. “We have a very active sub-committee at the county that is for the United Way and to help promote the organization and how it helps people here in the county.”
Morrow said that the committee is planning a kick off event for the fundraiser, and that they are hoping to know more about their goals for the year in the next couple of weeks.
“We have a meeting on Oct. 24 at 9 a.m. to go over some of the things that we want to do,” Morrow said. “We are hoping to have a kick-off event here at the government center in Elizabethtown where we will tell what our goal is.”
Morrow said that instead of focusing on the contributions, he wanted to focus on the percentage of employees who take part in the annual campaign.
“I am more concerned with the percentage of employees we get to participate than the monetary amount of the donation,” Morrow said. “It does not matter what you give; we are just encouraging people to give. We want to get the word out to all the employees, thank the ones that continue to give and plead with the ones that may not have signed up.”
