Sports wrap: Girls soccer takes center stage

— The Plattsburgh High Lady Hornets scored three goals in the second half for a 4-2 win against the Peru Lady Indians Oct. 5.

Lindsey Bushey put the Indians on the board first in the sixth minute on an assist from Mary Mazella. The Hornets equalized in the 30th minute when Marle Curle scored.

Brooke Knight opened the scoring for the Hornets in the 48th minute and Curle tallied her second goal of the game in the 60th minute, which proved to be the game-winner. Bushey scored for the Indians in the 70th minute, while Knight added an insurance tally in the second to last minute of the game.

Carli Neale had 15 saves for the Hornets, while Dani Dayton turned aside 10 shots for the Indians.

Beekmantown blanks Chiefs

The Beekmantown Lady Eagles scored all three of their goals in the second half in a 3-0 shutout win against the Saranac Lady Chiefs Oct. 5.

Kallie Villemaire scored in the 46th minute for the Eagles, while Rebeca Lapier scored in the 64th minute and Jess Huber scored in the 80th minute.

Jamie Favreau made 17 saves for the Chiefs.

Cougars shutout Red Storm

The Northeastern Clinton Lady Cougars scored three times in the first half and did not allow a goal in a 4-0 win against the Saranac Lake Lady Red Storm Oct. 5.

Mallory Honan scored in the 24th (Paige Southwick assist) and 50th minutes (Southwick) to pace the Cougars attack, while Bianca Grimshaw scored in the 33rd minute (Taylor Rabideau) and Michaela McDonough scored in the 35th minute (Molly Roush).

Regan Kieffer stopped 14 shots for the Red Storm.

Knights defeat Sentinels

The Seton Catholic Lady Knights scored twice in each half en route to a 4-2 win against the Ticonderoga Lady Sentinels Oct. 5.

Peyton Falb scored each of the Knights four tallies, finding the net in the third (unassisted), 28th (Shanon Egan), 43rd (Paige Spittler) and 49th (Spittler) minutes.
