SL police to use STOP-DWI funds for equipment purchases

The Saranac Lake Village Police Department will use about $7,300 in Franklin County STOP-DWI funds to make several equipment purchases.

Trustees approved the expenditure last week. According to Chief Bruce Nason, the village recently received grant funds through the county's DWI enforcement program.

Nason says the money will be used to purchase law enforcement equipment related to DWI patrols. Some of the money will also cover overtime costs associated with DWI patrols.

The funds will cover the cost of tasers, patrol rifles, and a laptop computer, according to village officials.
