Rotary honors North Warren Central student

CHESTERTOWN- Morgan Tennyson, a Senior at North Warren Central School, was recently recognized as local Student of the Month by the Chestertown Rotary Club.

The daughter of Joseph and Lisa Tennyson of Chestertown, Morgan is known for her hard work and responsible attitude as well as her joy for life and sense of humor, school guidance counselor Mike Terrio said.

"Despite an exceptionally busy schedule, Morgan maintains an excellent attitude towards school, peers and teachers," Terrio said, adding that Morgan is articulate and intelligent.

Terrio said Morgan has a wide range of interests, citing her involvement with sports, and extra-curricular pursuits.

An all-season athlete, Morgan has been a member of the Girl's Varsity Field Hockey, Basketball, and Softball teams for four years. She also has played AAU Basketball, and has been granted the school's Scholar-Athlete award for basketball, field hockey and softball, for three straight years. In the latter sport, she was also named MVP in 2010.

In her free time, Morgan enjoys outdoor activities, reading, music, quilting, and even more sports.

For four years, she has participated in the Vermont Quilt Festival.

She also participates in Chorus, Interact, and Varsity Club.

Morgan also has exemplary character traits, Terrio said, noting she has a reputation for being encouraging and supportive.

"Morgan is a team player sought after by her peers for her qualities of leadership and great sense of humor," he said. Her desire to help others will come in useful, Terrio said, as Morgan intends to pursue a career in the medical field - either nursing or pediatrics. She plans on attending Clarkson University in the fall.
