ICE! exhibit set in Lake Placid

LAKE PLACID - The Lake Placid-North Elba Historical Society announces the opening of ICE! the Historic Exhibit on Saturday, May 28 at The History Museum on Station Street in Lake Placid. ICE! will be on display for the 2011 and 2012 seasons and explores the many ways that ice has determined the course of history in Lake Placid and North Elba.

Curators for the exhibit are author Caperton Tissot and artist and Museum Committee Chair Parmelee Tolkan, with assistance from Town and Village Historian Beverley Reid.

A reception and fundraiser for ICE! the Historic Exhibit will be held at The History Museum on Friday, June 10, from 5 to 7 p.m. Historical Society members and the general public will have the opportunity to meet the curators and see first-hand how ice influenced the history and way of life in Lake Placid. The donation for this special event will be $20 per person, payable at the door, and proceeds will be used to underwrite the costs of the exhibit.

Please contact Administrative Director, Jennifer Tufano at 523-2529 or thehistorymuseumcollections@verizon.net to make a reservation or for more information.
