Charlotte, Vt., reopens fro crossings May 26

CHARLOTTE, Vt. - The Charlotte to Essex Ferry Crossing will reopened May 26 despite the record high lake level.

The Essex Ferry Dock has been elevated with 50 truckloads of gravel to keep the vehicles and passengers clear of the floodwater on the dock.

With the present lake level of 102.27 and higher than normal precipitation recently, without the additional gravel, the crossing would have remained closed for the foreseeable future.

The Grand Isle to Plattsburgh Ferry and the temporary ferry crossing at Crown Point continue to run 24 hours a day, seven days a week, without any service interruptions.
