Soul Steps to benefit theater group May 21

NORTH CREEK - The explosive African American dance group the Soul Steps will appear Saturday, May 21 at Tannery Pond.

The group presents a high-energy performance in an interactive, 60-minute display of a great American art form, stepping. The Our Town Theatre Group is sponsoring the group as part of its on going partnership with the Art Center of Blue Mountain Lake. The night is a great opportunity to celebrate with the community theater group.

The show is the second annual fundraiser with a pre-show silent auction and post show wine and cheese reception. Many local artists, crafts people and businesses have provided great auction items. Jane Castaneda's famous Horseradish Fire Water will be up for auction as well as: a one hour massage at Oasis Spa with Lori Phoebe; Chef Mary Frasier's Death by Chocolate Cake, a life jacket from Hornbeck Boats, a beautifully crafted child's wooden stool by Eddie Munoz, two traditional Chinese robes, a framed Adirondack photo, handmade quilted table runner from A. Crowe Quilts, four tickets to a future OTTG production and many more items.

The group creates two major plays in productions each year, brings in Seagle Colony on cultural arts weekend along with the Upper Hudson Musical Art performance each July, and offers an opportunity for actors in the surrounding local towns to participate in all aspects of the theater.

The performance will be held at 7:30 p.m. May 21 at Tannery Pond in North Creek. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. for the silent auction. Call to reserve your ticket by calling 352-7715 or go to www.adirondackarts.org.
