Saranac boys, girls continue dominance at track and field events

The Chiefs swept their meets with the Hornets May 10 as Maxine Rock scored four wins for the Lady Chiefs.

Rock won the long jump, high jump, 200 and 100 for the Lady Chiefs, while Morgan Kelly scored three wins (1,500, 3,000 and 3,200 relay).

Emma Deshaies scored three wins (800, 400, 1,600 relay) for the Hornets.

Jake Spear won in the long jump and triple jump, while scoring a school record in the long jump, for the Chiefs, while Corey Duval set a school record in the shot put.

Tre Bucci (200, 400 relay, 3,200 relay) and Andrew Favro (800, discus, 3,200 relay) each scored three wins for the Hornets.

Peru 77, Saranac Lake 47

The Indians and Red Storm split their meets May 10, with the Red Storm posting a two-point victory in the girls meet.

Vanessa Salamy (100 hurdles, 400, triple jump, 1,600 relay) and Nickie Trudeau (1,600 relay, 100, 200 and 400 hurdles) both won four times for the Lady Red Storm, while Chelsea Johnston won the discus and shot put for the Lady Indians.

In the boys meet, Dan Lennon won in the 3,200, 1,600, 400 and 3,200 relay to pace the Indians, while Shawn Hendrix (110 hurdles, 400 hurdles, long jump) won three events, Bryce Schnaars won the triple and high jumps and Erik Provost won the discus and shot put.

C.J. Stewart won in the 100 and 200, as well as the 400 relay.

The Sentinels swept past the Knights in a pair of meets May 10.

Justin Bresette posted wins in the 800, 3,200 relay and 1,600 relay, for the Knights boys team, while Zach Ziemer won in the 400 and 3,200 relay.
