Officials with the state Department of Environmental Conservation are reminding boaters that the locks system along the Saranac Lake chain remains closed.
DEC says the Lower Locks between First Pond and Oseetah Lake, as well as the Upper Locks between Lower Saranac Lake and Middle Saranac Lake, are inoperable due to high waters and debris caused by recent flooding.
Boaters and campers looking to access Middle Saranac Lake are urged to utilize the South Creek Fishing Access Site off state Route 3. The access site is designed for car-top boats only.
Water levels have receded some in the Tri-Lakes, but DEC staff is urging people to continue exercising caution.
