Arrest made in Hartland bank robbery

SPRINGFIELD- On May 10 at approximately 3:45 p.m, the Springfield Police Department arrested Brian Aubuchon, age 34 of Randolph. Aubuchon was arrested on Oak Street, near Pot Belly Pub, in Springfield, as a fugitive from justice.

Aubuchon was taken into custody without incident. Arresting officers from the Springfield Police Department's gang unit located drugs and a large amount of money in Aubuchon's possession; however a weapon was not located.

Aubuchon is also being held in Springfield for his outstanding warrants for assault and robbery, stemming from last week's robbery in Hartland, and for Escape from Furlough, stemming from a 2010 robbery in Braintree.

The Vermont State Police encourage the community to come forward with any additional information; especially information related to the other white males believed to be in Aubuchon's company at the time of Monday's robbery in Hartland. On May 9 at 2:09 p.m., the Royalton Barracks received a 911 call about a robbery at the Mascoma Savings Bank, located in Hartland. Aubuchon indicated that he had a gun, handed the teller a bag, and demanded money. A weapon was not seen by the employees or other witnesses. He took an undisclosed amount of cash and left in a vehicle, headed southbound on Vermont Route 12/Route 5.

Aubuchon may have been in the company of two other white males. One described as 5'7"-5'8" tall, weighing 205-220 pounds, and last seen wearing a dark pullover, knit hat, and gray or silver jeans. The other white male was described as having dark shoulder length hair.

Detectives with the Vermont State Police Bureau of Investigation responded to the scene to investigate, with assistance from the Department of Corrections Field Supervision Unit. Through the course of the investigation, using witness statements, surveillance footage, and assistance from probation officers, the suspect was identified as Brian Aubuchon.

An arrest warrant had been issued for Aubuchon signed by the Honorable Superior Court Judge William D. Cohen of the Windsor County Court. The bond is set for $250,000 with nationwide extradition. There was also active arrest warrant for Aubuchon for escape from furlough, stemming from a July 2010 robbery in Braintree.
