Holocaust survivor to speak in Saranac Lake

A Holocaust survivor and award-winning author is scheduled to speak at Saranac Lake High School next week.

Marion Blumenthal Lazan is author of the memoir Four Perfect Pebbles. She'll speak during an assembly in the high school auditorium at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 25.

Lazan has received numerous awards over the years, including the 2008 New York State Senate Woman of Distinction Award and the 2008 Louis E. Yavner Citizen Award from the New York State Board of Regents.

She's credited for her educational outreach efforts to schools, religious groups, and civic organizations nationwide and overseas. Her firsthand account of being held prisoner at a Nazi concentration camp - and surviving - drives home her message of love, respect, and tolerance in society.

The event is free and open to the public.
