Police arrested a man over the weekend after he attempted to bring weapons into Canada.
58-year-old Daniel Fontaine of Fort Lauderdale, Florida was taken into custody around midnight Sunday and subsequently charged with one count of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a felony, and two counts of fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a misdemeanor.
Fontaine was trying to enter Canada at a border crossing in Clinton County when he was allegedly found in possession of two pistols and a dagger. One of the pistols was loaded.
He was arraigned in Champlain Town Court and remanded to Clinton County Jail in lieu of $2,500 cash bail. He's scheduled to reappear in town court tomorrow.
