Presentation on abolitionist

CHAMPLAIN - "Noadiah Moore: Freedom's Herald" will be presented by historian Don Papson, founding president of the North Country Underground Railroad Historical Association, at the Samuel de Champlain History Center, 202 Elm St., 7 p.m. on May 18. The public is welcome to attend.

Moore and his wife lived in Champlain prior to the Civil War, during which time they sheltered fugitive slaves in their home. Moore was a leader of the local Liberty Party, founder of the Clinton County Anti-Slavery Society, in addition to being an anti-slavery lecturer.
