Peru softball team splits with PHS in battle for CVAC top spot

Brandee Russell had three hits for Westport, with Allison Sherman, Allexus Vaughn, Molly Rascoe, Aisleigh Frum and Mallory Sudduth recording two hits each.

PHS 8, Ti 3

The Lady Hornets scored six runs in the third and fourth innings to get past the Lady Sentinels May 9.

Kristin Fisher earned the win on the mound while also driving in a pair of runs for the Hornets. Charisse Abellard had a double and a run batted in and the duo of Samantha Malcolm and Fisher each had two hits.

Saranac 2, AVCS 1

The Lady Chiefs scored two runs in the third inning to beat the Lady Patriots May 9.

Kourtnie Campbell struck out eight and gave up only four hits to earn the win, while Courtney Pfeiffer had two hits, Emily Vann doubled and Olivia Furnia tripled for the Chiefs.

Brittany Friedrich allowed only five hits in the loss, striking out four.

Kelly McBrearity drove in the lone run of the game for the Patriots on a single that followed an Emily Plumadore double.

Beekmantown 20, Moriah 3

Kendra LaFountain connected on a three-run homer and Danielle Schwartz had a three-run triple to lead the Lady Eagles past the Lady Vikings May 9.

Emily Raville had three hits, including two doubles, while Taylor Manor collected three hits with a double and two runs-batted-in.
