Bloomingdale man gets prison for 2009 crime

A local man will go to prison for a crime committed in July 2009.

18-year-old Jason M. Smith of Bloomingdale pleaded guilty to two counts of first-degree attempted criminal sexual act on April 11.

Smith could have faced up to six counts following an incident involving two victims.

Appearing yesterday in Franklin County Court before Judge Robert G. Main Jr., the teen was sentenced to concurrent terms of three and a half years in a state correctional facility plus 10 years of post-release supervision.

Smith is now a registered sex offender.
