Volunteers needed for spring cleanup day

The Women's Civic Chamber is looking for volunteers to pitch in during its annual spring clean-up day in the village of Saranac Lake.

Volunteers will meet at 9 a.m. tomorrow at Berkley Green. Members of the Women's Civic Chamber will provide volunteers with a bag and a "pick-up" route and are advised to bring gloves and a rake.

Additional clean-up is needed this year following flooding downtown.

At noon, Mayor Clyde Rabideau and trustees have promised to prepare a sumptuous lunch.

WCC Secretary Janet Simkins said she and other members would be available to sign forms for those in need of community service credit.

Simkins said community members should remember that "many hands make light work" and picking up your waste is a sign of good taste.

Volunteers are also needed for a clean-up effort at the Pine Ridge Cemetery.
