Franklin officials to host public conversation series

Officials from the town of Franklin plan to host a series of public conversations beginning later this month.

Supervisor Arthur Willman says the conversations are aimed at promoting a less structured dialogue with local residents - one that is more conversational and less formal than regular town board meetings.

Willman hopes the public will engage him in a discussion of matters concerning the community.

"People know their town and its problems," he said in a news release. "The government should pay attention to their concerns, and these conversations are an opportunity for this kind of exchange."

The "conversation sessions" will be held on the third Wednesday of every month. The first session is scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. May 18 at the Franklin Town Hall.

Willman anticipates that the first session will focus on highway matters - but he stresses that residents can discuss any topic they wish.

He adds that he'll have town policies, procedures and laws handy for reference sake.
