Youth baseball splits first two games

JOHNSBURG-North Creek Gore team welcomed back returning players Dalton Stevens, Dawson West, Trevor McKinney, Sebastian Wood and Will Davis to their first game Friday, April 29. They also added to their numbers with new players Lewkus Lorensen, Logan McKinney, Kurt Fuller, Finn Smith, Jon Lorensen and Gabe Smith.

Gore lost in extra innings to North Creek Rotary 9-8. Stevens had two doubles and scored three runs. Davis added three hits with a triple and three runs. West added a triple and two RBIs, Wood had two hits and three RBIs. L. Lorensen added a single. Smith and Fuller had nice catches in the outfield. Pitching for Gore were Stevens, Wood and L. Lorensen.

Gore beat Nemec's of Warrensburg 21 - 4 Saturday, April 30. Ten-year-old Smith celebrated his birthday with a three-run homer. The birthday boy ended up with two hits and four RBIs. Nine-year-old Smith got his first hit playing on the majors Gore team. Gabe had a bases loaded single and knocked in two runs. Stevens added a home run, three RBIs and four stolen bases. Wood was 4-for-4, scoring four with four stolen bases. L. Lorensen had a home run and single, with three RBIs. T. McKinney was 2-for-3 with three runs. Davis added a double and five stolen bases. West got walked three times and stole six bases. West, Wood and Davis pitched well for Gore, giving up only three hits while combining for 10 strike outs.

Gore's record is 1-1 on the season.
