Memorial Day Parade plans set for May 30
The American Legion of Warrensburg will be hosting Warrensburg's annual Memorial Day Parade, set for May 30. The parade is open to all veterans as well as various community groups.
This year, the veterans organizations are emphasizing that all veterans, regardless of whether they are affiliated with any veterans group, are urged to participate, according to legionnaire Gene Pierce.
For further information call Pierce at 504-4202. To march, parade participants may just show up on May 30 at the Elementary School on James St. The parade times and route will be posted soon in the Adirondack Journal.
Worn American flags to be collected
The Warrensburg American Legion will again be collecting worn American flags to be disposed of in a proper, ceremonious manner.
Gene Pierce of the American Legion Post 446 said this week that last year, the VFW collected over 1,000 flags.
Torn and worn flags can be placed in receptacles to be available at the
American Legion Post on River St, Direct Deposit on Main St., and the Warrensburg Town Hall on Main St.
A flag retirement ceremony will be held later this summer. While conducting spring cleaning, Pierce said, replace your torn flag with a new one.
