Green Up Day set for May 7

MIDDLEBURY-Thanks to the efforts of Middlebury resident PegMartin and others, the Addison County shire town gets a little cleaner every year.

This year's Middlebury Green Up Day, Saturday, May 7, will involve all levels of the community. Martin is coordinating the effort again this week.

Martin said that the distinctive, recyclable plastic Green Up trash bags are now available at several locations - the Planning Department in the Middlebury Municipal Building and the Otter Creek Brewery - or by calling 388-7697.

On Saturday, and again on Sunday, May 8, bags filled with roadside debris should be taken to town trucks parked at the following three locations:in the parking lot off Academy Street, in the parking lot by the skating rink, or at the East Middlebury Fire Station. Otter Creek Brewing is sponsoring a fun-filled cookout for Green-Uppers from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on May 7. Casella Waste will have a bag drop off clearly marked at the brewery, according to Martin.
