Goshen Gallop-one, tough 10K race

GOSHEN-The Moosalamoo Association, a stewardship partner with the U.S. Forest Service for the management of the Moosalamoo National Recreation Area (NRA), will again hold the toughest 10k ever, the Goshen Gallop, July 16.

All Gallop proceeds benefit the non-profit organization, the Moosalamoo Association.

Now in its thirty third year, the rugged 10K course takes the runner on the dirt and gravel roads of Goshen and onto a packed soil surface up to elevations between 1,800 and 2,100 feet above sea level following the Nordic cross-country ski trails set in the Moosalamoo National Recreation Area of the Green Mountain National Forest. It's a challenging event featuring runners of all abilities. A 5K race is offered for those not up to the challenge of the 10K.

The annual race begins at 4 p.m. at the Blueberry Hill Inn. Moosalamoo Association branded items, like mugs, keychains, and hats, will be on sale.

The first 100 to register receive a free t-shirt. Cost is $35 (pre-registered) or $40 the day of the race. Non-runners can purchase just a meal ticket - $15 for adults, $10 for kids up to 10 years of age. Racers can register online or download the form by visiting www.moosalamoo.org/events.asp.

Moosalamoo NRA is a 20,000-acre region of public and private land nestled in the Green Mountain National Forest.
