BCS kindergarten, pre-K registration

Bolton Central School will hold its annual pre-kindergarten and new kindergarten student registration from 8:15 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 5.

All children residing in the district, who will be 4 years old on or before Dec. 1, 2011, are eligible to enroll in the September 2011 pre-kindergarten class. Children who will be enrolling in the September 2011 kindergarten class, who are not currently enrolled in the district's pre-kindergarten program, may also enroll at this time.

Bolton Central School's pre-kindergarten program runs Monday through Friday on all days when school is in session. Bus transportation is provided. For more information, contact Bolton's pre-kindergarten teacher Tamara Schoder at 644-2400, ext. 443.

Schoder said parents can expect to learn about Bolton's pre-kindergarten program, see what the classroom looks like and get answers to all their questions and concerns.

"It's important for parents to register their children," Schoder said, "to not only get program information, but to also get their children evaluated on their language and fine and gross motor skills by the school's speech therapist Mrs. Laurie Blanchard, occupational therapist, Mrs.Yvonne Powers, and psychologist Mr. Steve Wilk."

To schedule an appointment, call Mrs. Diane Burkhardt at 644-2400 ext. 111. For questions about the screening process, contact the school psychologist Mr. Steve Wilk, Tuesday through Friday at 644-2400, ext. 115.

BCS Drama Club to perform 'Oh Kay!'

This year's musical, "Oh, Kay!" by George and Ira Gershwin, will be presented at 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, April 8 and 9 at the Bolton Central School gymnasium. Admission is $5.

The romantic comedy includes the song, "Someone to Watch Over Me," a jazz standard that has been performed by numerous artists since its debut in this show in 1926.

The show takes place in the mansion of Jimmy Winters, who has been away for a long time. While he was away bootleggers used his cellar to hide alcohol. When Jimmy returns he has his new bride with him, but soon falls in love with Kay, who is the sister of one of the bootleggers.
