WILMINGTON - A person had to be airlifted to Vermont following a skiing accident at Whiteface Mountain over the weekend.
According to Jon Lundin, director of communications at the state Olympic Regional Development Authority, an 18-year-old male was transported via helicopter to the Fletcher Allen Health Care Center in Burlington, Vt. Lundin said the man, whose name has not been released, suffered a lower-back injury at approximately 9 a.m. March 26.
The accident happened on the Lower Valley trail near mid-station.
Airlifting him to Vermont was a "precautionary measure," said Lundin.
