Orwell man is a metal detector enthusiast

ORWELL-Members and guests of the GFWC Orwell Fortnightly Club gathered at the Orwell Congregational Church for a pot luck supper for the club's annual Guest Night last week.

The club completed the winter raffle and lucky winners were drawn. Members donated toiletries which will be given to WomenSafe.

The program was presented by Jacob Dapsis of Orwell who shared his experiences on the metal-detecting hobby. Dapsis searches plowed fields, old home sites, beaches and lawns for treasures. Locally, he has found lost wedding rings and Civil War-era artifacts.

The GFWC Orwell Fortnightly Club will hoste the statewide GFWC meeting April 30. Lindy Brown of Orwell is the state president and will conduct the meeting.
