On March 23, Vermont State Police assigned to the Castleton Outpost responded to a larceny from motor vehicle complaint in the most southern parking lot within the Castleton State College campus. Campus security reported to State Police dispatch, that they had apprehended a male subject who they believed had stolen property from within the cars in the parking lot. State Police spoke with the suspect identified as Adam Saldi of Fair Haven. Saldi informed the police that the owner of the car he was in had stolen items from him in the past and that he was merely retrieving his property. Saldi had a snowboard in his possession. Saldi provided the wrong make of snowboard when asked. Two other cars had been rummaged through. Chrystal Cioffi of Proctor was located sleeping in a vehicle parked within the same area. Several items inside Cioffi's vehicle were identified as belonging to the second victim and were immediately returned to her possession. Further investigation revealed that Saldi and Cioffi arrived at the parking lot together. Saldi was arrested. Cioffi was released to her mother.
