Two hurt in vehicle accident

Two motorists hurt in a two-car crash on the Hague Road March 17.

Jennifer C. Mattison, 44, of Ticonderoga, and Todd W. Porter, 42, of Hague, were trapped in their vehicles and had to be extracted by Ticonderoga Fire Department personnel, with assistance from Hague Fire Department rescuers.

Ticonderoga police said Mattison was driving south about one-half mile north of the Hague town line when her vehicle slid on black ice and collided with Porter's vehicle head-on. Police said water from melting snow had been running across the roadway, and froze overnight.

Mattison and Porter were taken by ambulance to Moses-Ludington Hospital in Ticonderoga.

Porter was transferred to Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington by medical helicopter. Mattison was taken to Fletcher Allen by ambulance. Both drivers were listed in serious condition.

No tickets were issued, but the accident is still under investigation.
