FORT EDWARD - Scott M. Thorpe, of Greenwich, who kidnapped and attempted to kill a man who stole drugs from him received a sentence last week that mandates 43 years in jail before becoming eligible for release.
Washington County Judge John Hall made the decision.
Washington County District Attorney Kevin Kortright wanted Thorpe to received a sentence of up to life in prison as a "persistent" felon because of his criminal record.
