Maine man pleads guilty to eight years of sexual abuse

A man accused of sexually abusing a young girl over the course of eight years pleaded guilty to his crimes in Franklin County Court this week.

Appearing before Judge Robert G. Main Jr., 46-year-old Adam F. Griswold of Springvale, Maine pleaded guilty to first-degree sexual abuse and two counts of second-degree criminal sexual abuse.

Griswold, who has relatives in Chateaugay, was taken into custody last October and eventually indicted by a Franklin County Grand Jury on 48 counts, including various degrees of sexual abuse, forcible touching, and endangering the welfare of a child.

Prosecutors say Griswold sexually abused a young girl over the course of eight years. The abuse began when the victim was only 10-years-old.

Sentencing is scheduled for May 18.
