A Hannaford supermarket will open for business in Lake Placid on April 16 and an opening ceremony will be held on April 30 including free items and product samples.
The Maine-based grocery store chain plans to make an official announcement soon.
Store spokesman Matt Paul said a big focus for Hannaford is fresh food. He said fresh items would be delivered to the store daily, including a cornucopia of produce, baked goods, deli items, meats and seafood.
Paul said Hannaford would work with suppliers to ensure that all seafood products are caught from a sustainable source.
Officials say having a new option for grocery shopping will provide healthy competition in the area.
Hannaford will fill the Cold Brook Plaza site that has been vacant since the Tops grocery store left in 2005. The Hannaford store will include a pharmacy and is expected to employ about 100 full and part-time employees.
