Petitions sought for school board

WESTPORT - The Westport Central School District is seeking a candidate to fill one five-year term vacancy on the Board of Education. The seat is currently held by Thomas Kohler.

Candidates seeking the position must be a qualified voter of the District who is able to read and write, a U.S. citizen, at least 18 years of age and a resident of the district for at least one year prior to the election.

Petitions are available in the District Office between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday until April 18. Those who would like to be considered as candidates for this term must submit a petition to the District Clerk signed by at least 25 qualified voters of the district. Petitions must be returned to the office no later than 4 p.m. on April 18.

The board of education election will be held on Tuesday, May 17, from noon until 9 p.m. in the lobby outside the Bulles Auditorium.
