Four hurt in car accidents near Lake Placid

Four people were injured in a pair of motor vehicle accidents over the weekend.

The accidents occurred within 20 minutes of each other on state Route 86 near Lake Placid. Ray Brook-based state police say icy roads contributed to both incidents. No tickets were issued following either accident.

The first accident was reported at approximately 8:20 p.m. Troopers say 21-year-old Daniel C. Woodruff of Saranac Lake was driving west along state Route 86 near the intersection with Old Military Road when he lost control of his vehicle.

Woodruff regained control, but was rear-ended by a vehicle being operated by 24-year-old Leif P. Sorgule of Saranac Lake.

Rescue personnel arrived at the scene soon after and subsequently transported Woodruff and his passenger - 20-year-old Chelsea E. Tremblay of Saranac Lake - to the Adirondack Medical Center in Lake Placid. Both were treated for should and knee pain and released.

Then, about 20 minutes later, 50-year-old Julie R. Crisman of Lake Placid lost control of her vehicle and struck a parked SUV.

Troopers say Crisman was driving west along state Route 86 when the accident happened. The car she struck was parked on the north side of the road.

Crisman and her passenger - 14-year-old Alicia Q. Ewanos of Lake Placid - were taken to AMC in Lake Placid. They were treated for head and neck pain and released.
