ELIZABETHTOWN -The 31st annual Doc Lopez Run for Hope to benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is scheduled for Saturday, March 19.
"This event was started in 1980 by Dr. Robert Lopez, a local veterinarian and running 'guru,'" Sue Allott, event organizer, said. "Kick into spring with a run, walk or the spirit of volunteering and/or donating to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation."
The 12.1-mile course begins at the intersection of Route 9N and Route 73 in Keene at 9 a.m. and ends at Elizabethtown-Lewis Central School.
Registration starts at 8 a.m. at ELCS and 8:30 a.m. at the Keene Library.
Allott said that she hopes to have bus transportation available from registration in ELCS to the start of the race in Keene.
The 3.1-mile course and 1-mile walk begin at ELCS at 9:30 p.m., run west toward New Russia on route 9N and end at ELCS. Registration opens at 8:30 a.m. at ELCS.
Medals will be awarded for the top three finishers in each of 10 categories for the 12.1-mile and 3.1-mile events. Certificates will be awarded to all finishers.
Water bottles are available for the first 100 entrants. A post-race buffet will be held at ELCS.
The registration fee is $20 for adults, $10 for K-12 students and $50 for families. Participants may register at the event or email email@example.com for a registration form. Contact Susie Allott at 962-4898 for more information.
