Two Essex County residents were taken into custody last week following an underage drinking sting.
State police, in coordination with the Essex County Stop-DWI program, conducted compliance checks at 12 businesses using an 18-year-old volunteer.
The subject attempted to purchase alcohol from the stores. All but two turned the teen away.
Investigators arrested 27-year-old Farooq Ramzan of Schroon Lake and 17-year-old Javeed A. Nazir of Ticonderoga and charged both with first-degree unlawfully dealing with a child and prohibited sale of alcohol.
Those are misdemeanor charges. State police did not identify the businesses where the two subjects worked.
