Winter Carnival braves unpredictable weather

The Minerva Service Organization awarded door prizes to lucky winners including Dan Dunbar, Alex Ruzbacki, Nick Kelly and Josh TenEyck.

The Minerva Sleeping Giants candy guessing contest awarded Jane Weckesser and Sara Dunbar first place honors, while Amanda Bellotti and Josh TenEyck placed second.

Henry, Emmett, Eric Gelber and LaDelle Dautraumont won the snow sculpture contest, sponsored by the Minerva PTSO. Second place went to Jess Hill, Bonnie Hill, MacKenzie DeCook, Larissa Smith, Mindy, Blake and Andrew Piper, and Kent, Brett, Marilyn and Ryan Jeffries. Third place was awarded to Alex Johnson, Abby Clickner, Amber Vanderwarker and Angel Vanderwarker. A teamwork certificate went to Conner, Kaleb and Jamie Davie. The funniest award went to Noah, Ben, Trish and Simon Gardner. The cutest award went to Isla, Elsie, Keith Tait and Ling Minucci.

Planning for the Minerva Winter Carnival began in November and paid off thanks to all the interested individuals and organizations who put so much time and effort into it. A few include the Town of Minerva Department of Parks and Recreation, Highway Department, Minerva Central School, Bob Sherwood, Tom Ramsey, Heidi Kelly and the school custodians.
