Lake George advances in sectional play

Cambridge 57, Warrensburg 38

CAMBRIDGE - Cambridge's Will Bromirski found weak spots in Warrensburg's zone defense and hit five 3-pointers to lead his team past Warrensburg in the opening round of the Section II Class C tournament Feb. 23.

Corey Chadwell led Warrensburg with 12 points.

Mike Curtis had nine points and John Joseph put up six points. Nick Monroe had five points with one three-pointer and Tyler Williams had four points with one three-pointer in the loss.

Heatly 48, Bolton 36

BOLTON LANDING - Despite a 12-8 first quarter lead, Bolton fell to Heatly in opening-round play Tuesday, Feb. 22.

Billy Smith sunk four three-pointers and racked up 16 points. Mitchell Jordon ripped down 19 rebounds and finished with 12 points in the loss.

Matthew Smith totaled four points and Tyler Calzada and Dustin French each put up two points apiece in the loss.

Girls Basketball

North Warren 51, Northville 40

CHESTERTOWN - Lindsey Meade achieved a double-double with 13 points and 15 rebounds as she led North Warren to a victory over Northville Feb. 23 in the opening round of the Section II Class D tournament. Kiera Warner scored a game-high 15 points for the Cougars with three three-pointers. Teammate Margo Broderick totalled ten points. Chantal Millington had seven points with one three-pointer, Morgan Tennyson had four points and Cassie Maday had two points in the win.

Heatly 41, North Warren 35

GREEN ISLAND - North Warren outscored Heatly handily in the second and fourth quarters, but couldn't overcome a slow start in a Section II Class D tournament quarterfinal defeat Feb. 26 that ended their eventful 2010-11 season. Cougar Kiera Warner led her team with 15 points, a score than included four 3-point shots. Teammates Lindsey Meade and Morgan Tennyson each contributed 6 points in the effort, followed by Margo Broderick with five points. Chantal Millington hit one 3-pointer in the game.
