Lady Orange advance, Johnsburg falls

Indian Lake-Long Lake 51

Wells 18

INDIAN LAKE - The Lady Orange, led by senior Carli Reynolds, knew what they had to do to advance to the semi-finals and they did just that Saturday, Feb. 26.

Reynolds scored a game-high 19 points on the way to Indian Lake-Long Lake's victory over league and division rival, Wells. She also tallied seven rebounds, four assists and two steals. Allison Pine put her height to good use, bringing home a double-double of 11 points and 12 rebounds, along with three steals in the win. Murphy Farrell had eight points and five steals, Jessica Bain had six points, Melanie Pierson and Meg Smith had two points, and Morgan Hinckley finished with the three points in the win.

The Lady Orange kept the Wells scoring effort in the single digits in each quarter and entered half-time with a 27-11 lead. Wells, however, made them work for every point. Their aggressive style of play kept Indian Lake-Long Lake on their toes and made for a very physical first half, according to Orange head coach John Reynolds.

"We played very well defensively and put a lot of pressure on the ball," he said. "And in the third quarter we put it away."

The Lady Orange had a 15-7 scoring advantage in the third quarter and kept their opponent scoreless in the fourth.

They will hit the gym this week in preparation for the next round of sectionals.

"We are going to continue to practice our defense," Reynolds said. "And work at better executing our shots."

Chazy 54

Johnsburg 41

JOHNSBURG - The intensity of Johnsburg's battle against Chazy for a trip to the semi-finals lasted from the first second of play to the final buzzer Saturday, Feb. 26.

The fourth quarter, however, proved to be the difference as fourth-seeded Johnsburg was outscored 22-12 in by fifth seeded Chazy.
