Weather keeps girls sectional play at bay throughout weekend

Section VII/Class B quarterfinals

The second seed Lady Patriots got 34 combined points from its Alexis duo and used a 17-2 opening quarter to roll past the seventh seed Lady Red Storm in Section VII/Class B quarterfinal play Feb. 21.

Alexis Facteau led the Patriots with 18 points and 14 rebounds, while Alexis Coolidge added 16 points. Savannah Douglas, Kayla Taylor and Carlee Hart each scored four points, while Meghan Strong and Alexias Ryan scored three points. Haley Taylor and Sierra Snow each scored two points, while Alex Casey scored one point.

For the Red Storm, Shauna Manning scored six points, with Jazzmyn Tuthill adding five points, Jackie Cummings scoring four points and Nicole Viscardo scoring three points. Megan Kilroy, Chelley Pietras and Regan Kieffer each scored two points. The team finished the season at 4-15, with Manning pacing the Red Strom with 175 points (9.2 ppg).

Section VII/Class D quarterfinals

(1) Indian Lake/Long Lake defeated (8) Wells, 51-18

(2) Westport 47, (7) Willsboro 22

The second-seeded Lady Eagles used a 22-2 third quarter to get past the seventh seed Lady Warriors Feb. 26.

Willa McKinley and Nancy Armitage scored 12 points each to lead the Eagles, while Allison Sherman scored eight points, Mallory Sudduth, Brendee Russell and Karlee McGee each scored four points and Christina Sherman scored three points.

Serene Holland led the Warriors with nine points, while Hannah Bruno scored five points and Tiffani Provost and Kyli Swires each scored three points. Renee Marcotte added two points.

The Warriors finished the season at 5-11, with Bruno scoring 227 points.

(4) Elizabethtown-Lewis 42, (5) Moriah 33

The fourth-seeded Lady Lions used a 15-0 at the end of the second quarter and into the third quarter to turn a nine-point deficit into a lead they would not give up against the fifth seed Lady Vikings Feb. 26.

Lily Whalen scored 15 points to lead the Lions, while Kearsten Ashline scored 11 points, Shonna Brooks scored seven points, Kylee Casavaugh scored five points, Jennifer McGinn scored two points and Ashli Canabush scored two points.
