Local teams see mixed results in boys basketball sectional play

Jordan Knight scored 18 points to lead the Hornets, while Tre Bucci added 10 points, Kyle LaPoint scored six points, Andrew Favro and Ethan Votraw scored five points, Anthony Porcelli scored four points and the duo of Rob Fout and Justin Curtis each scored two points.

TJ Burl paced the Patriots with 18 points, while Jordan Coolidge and Brody Douglass each scored six points, Nick Rhino scored four points, Connor Manning scored three points, Ryan Lee scored three points and Michael Hart scored two points.

The Patriots finished the season with a record of 15-5, with Douglass leading the team in scoring and ranking second in the CVAC with 327 points (16.4 ppg).

Section VII/Class C semifinals

(1) Ticonderoga 55, (4) Lake Placid 30

A 23-3 opening quarter pushed the top-seeded Sentinels through to the Section VII/Class C championship game with a big win over the fourth seed Blue Bombers Feb. 26.

Will Gronlund scored nine points for the Bombers, while Logan Stephenson scored seven points, Chris Orsi scored five points, Evan Bickford and David Lawrence scored three points, Anthony Kordziel scored two points and Jacob Daniels scored one point.

The Blue Bombers ended the season with a record of 5-9.

Section VII/Class D opening round

(8) Westport 63, (9) Wells 43

The eighth-seeded Eagles used a 24-12 third quarter to pull away from ninth seed Wells Feb. 22.

David Quaglietta led a balanced offensive attack with 14 points, while Kevin Russell and Will Adams scored 13 points apiece, Liam Davis scored 11 points, Alex Frum and Cooper Sayward scored five points and Ethan Markwica scored two points.

Section VII/Class D quarterfinals

(1) Schroon Lake 63, (8) Westport 32

The top seeded Wildcats used a 20-7 first quarter and a 34-14 second half to get past the eighth seed Eagles Feb. 26.
