Happy birthday, USA!

Carnival games will be playable, with classics like the dunking booth, coin toss, baseball toss and ring toss. There will also be a bounce house.

Food will be available, with the Cub Scouts serving hamburgers, hot dogs and sausage with peppers. The Garnet Lake volunteer fire department will be barbequing chicken. Johnsburg Youth Works will be running a bake sale, and Pete's Ahh will sell subs and slices. Mark Renydon will be spinning maple cotton candy for the curious.

Fireworks are scheduled at dusk.

Long Lake

Events will kick off Monday, July 4, at 10 a.m. with kids' games on the Long Lake Ball Field. Competitions will include egg toss, sack races and the three-legged race. Free prizes for all participants.

At 5 p.m., the fire department will serve up barbeque at the town beach while the Popcorn Man does his thing and Penelope the clown provides entertainment and face painting.

The bed races are scheduled for 5 p.m. as well. The entry fee is $10 per bed, and the race route is from the Long Lake Bridge to the beach, pending department of transportation approval. Otherwise, the beds will race at Long Lake Central School.

Ernie Williams from Albany will sing the blues at the beach at 6 p.m. In case of rain, the event will move to the town hall. Fireworks are scheduled at the beach for dusk.

Indian Lake

There will be events Saturday and Sunday, July 2 and 3, with a kids' fishing derby starting at 8 a.m. at Byron Park Saturday, wrapping up at 1 p.m. The derby is free to kids under 16.

The United Methodist Church on Main Streetwill host a bazaar, bake sale and flea market from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. featuring homemade baked goods, handmade and gently used items.

The Adirondack Lakes Center for the Arts will host an auction and block party in Blue Mountain Lake starting at 10 a.m. The auction wraps up at 2 p.m., when the party starts, lasting until 4 p.m.
