Student recognized

Julianne O'Donnell of Bolton High School has received Sage College's distinguished designation as a Sage Student Scholar.

Students receiving the award are chosen by Sage officials after reviewing nominations by submitted by high school guidance counselors and principals.

Sage and must exemplify Sage's motto, "To Be, To Know, To Do." Award winners are invited to visit the college in the fall for a special Student Scholar Reception recognizing their academic achievements and community involvement.

Golf at The Sagamore

Once again this year a special discount rate will be offered to Bolton residents that would like to golf on Monday afternoons starting at 2 p.m. Local golfers have their choice of 9 or 18 holes. For rates and details, contact Bill Bashant at 644-2015.

Sembrich event

"Happy Birthday, Gian Carlo" at the Sembrich museum in Bolton is a two-day event devoted to celebrating composer Gian Carlo Menotti and his music on his 100th birthday. July 7 marks the centennial of the birth of the Italian-American composer best known for his dramatic operas "The Medium," "The Consul" and "The Saint of Bleeker Street" - and for his perennial Christmas favorite "Amahl and the Night Visitors."

The celebration begins at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 6 with a free screening of an early television production of "The Consul." The party culminates at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, July 7 with a live musical performance featuring the Young Artists of Opera Saratoga. The cost is $25.

The museum is open daily from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and from 2 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Admission is by donation. For details about the Sembrich Museum or for a calendar of the 2011 summer performances, visit www.thesembrich.org or contact the office at 644-2431 or the museum at 644-9839.

Conservancy art talks

The Lake George Land Conservancy is hosing an Art Talk series to promote the local arts in conjunction with its Art Raffle for the Last Great Shoreline fundraiser.
